Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with Landspeed world record

The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport takes production sports cars to a whole new dimension. On a beautiful sunny day at 25 degrees the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved a new landspeed world record for production cars, on the proving grounds of the Volkswagen Group at Ehra-Lessien (nearby its headquarters at Wolfsburg). In the presence of the German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) and a representative of Guinness Book of Records the Super Sport achieved an average top speed of 431 km/h.

Saturday, 2 pm – Bugatti’s Pilote Officiel Pierre Henri Raphanel puts his helmet and gloves on, pulls the safety belts tight orange black Super Sport crosses the light barrier, from now on the time will be taken, whilst the engineers check the car a very last time: tyre pressure, temperature, all systems green. Then the within one hour the car has to drive from South to North and then in the opposite direction. No one but the driver is allowed to touch the car during this time. The tension rises. A few minutes later we can hear from the left side the sound of a starting jumbo jet coming closer towards us. First we perceive the headlights of the Veyron, then we can recognize the shape of the car, a loud wooosh…. and Raphanel dashes in top speed past us. The GPS-tachometer stops at 427, 933 km/h. Now the same procedure from the opposite direction. This time the car reaches 434, 211 km/h. As average top speed the representatives of the "TÜV"and Guinness generate a value of 431, 072 km/h (268 mph). This hit even Bugatti’s engineering team by surprise.
"We took it that we would reach an average value of 425 km/h," explains Bugatti’s chief engineer Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, "but the conditions today were perfect and allowed even more.z

The climax of the Veyron series: the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

Had a model been especially popular or highly successful in races, Ettore Bugatti’s customers often pushed the master to tease out of the engine a few horsepower more for their future car. Bugatti Automobiles SAS had been in a similar situation when their existing customers asked the company to not only design their second model optically differently but to also create a version with a sportier and more extreme driving experience. The result is a car with a uniquely high performance of 1,200-hp (882 kW) offering experienced drivers a whole new dimension of excitement, with a maximum torque of 1,500 Newton metres and a limited top speed of 415 km/h (to protect the tyres), but the technique of the Super Sport is identical to the record car. The first five Super Sports to come off the production line will constitute a special series of their own, with the same configuration as the landspeed record car.

The Super Sport is a consequent further development of the classic exclusive 1,001-hp Bugatti Veyron 16.4, launched in 2005. This model offers a stunning set of specifications, such as the twin clutch gearbox with seven speeds, the extraordinarily precise driving performance in bends and excellent stability when braking and accelerating.

Continuous work in extreme performance ranges lead to constantly new conclusions, which enabled the engineers at Bugatti to develop the Veyron into a direction in which the driver can reach new dimensions. Every modification is designed to produce an even more powerful car for an agile ride. Four enlarged turbochargers and bigger intercoolers have been used to boost the power of the 16-cylinder engine, and the chassis has been extensively redesigned to maintain safety at extreme speed – thanks to slightly raised main-spring travel, stronger stabilisers, and new shock absorbers with a complex architecture originally developed for racing cars. This gives noticeably more precise control of the wheels and the car as a whole. With lateral acceleration of up to 1.4 G and improved interaction between the tyres and the intelligent all-wheel drive system, the Super Sport offers perfect handling and even more powerful acceleration of 1,500 Newton metres on corner exits.

The body has been fine-tuned to improve aerodynamic efficiency and maintain perfect balance in every situation, while the new fibre structure of the all-carbon monocoque ensures maximum torsion rigidity and passive safety – at reduced weight. The skin is made entirely of carbon-fibre composites, and the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport is available in 100 per-cent clear-lacquered exposed carbon on request.

Dynamic exterior

Every detail of this car, and not just its use of advanced motorsport technology, harks back to the pioneering spirit of company founder Ettore Bugatti. This brilliant designer came from a family of artists, and his philosophy was always to combine mechanical perfection and exterior beauty. This ethos remains alive and well at the company, and the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport is wholly unmistakeable, with every external modification serving to coax greater performance from the car.

The Super Sport’s flat, elongated silhouette is immediately recognisable. The 16-cylinder engine gets its air from two NACA ducts set into the roof, rather than from scoops above the engine. The front air intakes have been expanded and reshaped, with the lower one extending elegantly around the sides to the wheel arch. The revised back looks sportier due to the double diffuser and a centrally arranged exhaust system.

Bugatti has a tradition of making super-sport versions of successful models, usually with racing chassis and supercharged engines. These cars were considered as true racing machines for diehard Bugatti devotees. The most successful were the type 55 and type 57S; only around forty of each were built.

Bugatti Automobiles has sold 260 Veyron and 35 Grand Sport by now, of which 249 Veyron and 22 Grand Sport had been delivered. The Super Sport will begin production this autumn at Molsheim along with the Veyron and the Grand Sport. The first five cars – known as the World Record Edition – are in a special black exposed carbon and orange finish and have already been sold.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport will appear for the first time in public in California at the Pebble Beach Concours week end in mid August and will feature at Quail Meadow, Laguna Seca and on the concept lawn of the Pebble Beach Concours.

New Design Arrinera Venocara Supercar

Arrinera Venocara Supercar

For the most part, most of today’s supercars call the European continent their home. The growing trend of these high-powered machines has stretched far and wide in the continent with established countries like Germany, Italy, and the UK being joined in the supercar arms race by Sweden, Denmark, and Spain, among other countries.

Now you can add Poland to the mix.

The country best known for their polish sausages is set to introduce their very first supercar courtesy of Arrinera Automotive. The name for this Lamborghini-inspired beast hasn’t been announced yet, but Arrinera has nonetheless released a number of renderings to give us a first look on what to expect when this Polish hammer hits the streets in the future.

UPDATE 02/10/12: Arrinera has unveiled a new video that takes us behind the scenes of the official video previously unveiled. The video depicts the enormous effort made by the producer Lazniak.com as well as the Arrinera team. Hit the jump to watch the video.

UPDATE 05/02/12: Arrinera has officially released the final specs of the Venocara Supercar, as well as the pricing details for it. Find out how powerful this Polish supercar really is and how big of a hole it’s going to have on your pockets after the jump!

This review has been updated with official details of the Arrinera Supercar

Exterior

Your eyes aren’t fooling you; the Arrinera supercar looks a hell of a lot like a Lamborghini. But despite the similarities, the Arrinera also sports some unique styling cues that’s all its own, including a dramatic body language that came from the creative mind of Pavlo Burkatskyy. The full use of creases and sharp angles affirms the supercar’s aggressive and futuristic stance while the scissor doors reinforce the Lamborghini-like inspiration behind the design. Even the rear end, despite its high-flowing styling cues, points to a little touch-up from the Aventador. The striped LED tail lamp-set up, the large diffuser, and the centrally mounted exhausts are sharp as tacks and certainly draws a great deal of attention.

The Arrinerar will ride on a tubular steel chassis and will come with a carbon Kevlar body with plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum accents. It will glide along the streets with large diameter light alloy wheels wrapped around ultra low profile tires, 255/30 R19 at the front and 335/30 R20 at the rear. Stopping power will come from Ceramic brake discs.

Interior

Inside, the Arrinera supercar is covered to the nines of luxury and extravagance. Leather and composite materials are only two of the many items inside the supercar that caters to high-end customers. The supercar also include four-point harnesses and roll bars positioned behind the seats for additional safety while a thermal imaging camera can be had as an added option. This camera picks up any object that has a higher temperature than the environment up to 100 meters ahead of the car. When this human or animal is picked up by the camera, an image of the object will show up on the display neatly displayed in the center console.

Performance

The Arrinera Supercar is powered by a 6.2-liter, mid-mounted V8 engine that delivers 650 horsepower and 604 lb/ft of torque. According to Arrinera, the prized machine has beyond impressive numbers to justify the monstrous engine. Acceleration from 0-62 mph can be accomplished in just 3.2 seconds with a quarter-mile time of 11 seconds and a top speed of a mind-blowing 211 mph. It’s not in the level of the Agera R’s and Veyron’s of the world, but it can certainly hold its own against the likes of the 458 Italia and the MP4-12C.

Pricing

The Arrinera Venocara Supercar comes with a price of $160,060, excluding destination charges and local taxes.

Meanwhile, a possible second model - a roadster version - is set to be offered in either single or two-seat configurations and weighing only under 500 kg. This particular model, despite still being clouded in mystery, is expected to retail for £70,000 ($111,000).

Competition

Since the Arrinera supercar reminds us of a Lamborghini, then why don’t we just see if the former has what it takes to usurp the latter’s precious new creation, the Aventador LP700-4. Clearly, this is the ultimate example of an upstart trying to make a name for itself at the expense of what is considered as one of the most iconic supercar brands in the world today.

In terms of looks, the Arrinera supercar doesn’t disappoint; it actually makes a pretty compelling design that has the influence of no less than Lee Noble. Comparing it to the Aventador is like comparing a hot girl with her beautiful cousin; it’s subject to interpretation and taste more than anything else. Both score great on our eyes with the Aventador’s front profile being a little ’angrier’ than the Arrinera while the Polish supercar’s rear end sporting more attitude than its Lambo counterpart.

Performance is where the Aventador has the leg-up, albeit not by much. It carries a 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 700 horsepower and 509 lb/ft of torque, which is a little higher than what the Arrinera is capable of.

But the biggest discrepancy between the two is arguably the most important thing about cars of these stature: price.

Compared to the Lamborghini Aventador’s price tag of $379,700, the Arrinera supercar will only set you back less than half of what you’ll need to shell out for the new Lamborghini. But that’s not to say that the former is overpriced because you still have to pay premium money for the brand itself. But if image isn’t your concern and you’re just looking for a sweet alternative to the more expensive exotics, the Arrinera supercar could be a very feasible candidate.

Russia’s Second Super Car ; Marussia B2

Marussia B2: Russia’s Second Super Car

Marussia B2: Russia's Second Super CarWhat happens when newly-monied Russians design a super car? You get the successor to the first Russian super car, the B1. It's the Marussia B2 and it's got looks to shame a Ferrari Enzo and, supposedly, a 420HP Cosworth mill.

We weren't holding out much hope for the Marussia B2, but it's turned out to be one of the pleasant surprises of the Frankfurt Motor Show with Enzo-like looks and supposedly a 420HP Cosworth mill.

We're still a little foggy on the details, but it seems the Marussia B2 is built on the same frame as it's B1 predecessor but gets a specially built 3.5 liter Cosworth V6, ranging from 245 HP to 420 HP. Whatever the powerplant, it's hard to argue on the looks — the thing is bad ass. It's got more cut lines than a knife fighter and while the forward visibility is probably pretty terrible, awesomely ridiculous is the only way we can describe it.

Twin-turbo Lamborghini Gallardo competition an Aventador - more than 600 horsepower

There’s no disbelief a batch Lamborghini Gallardo doesn’t have a courage to go toe-to-toe with a some-more absolute sibling, a Aventador. But have no mistake: That’s zero a integrate large turbochargers can’t fix.

The identical tiwn turbos come pleasantness of Heffner Performance, as well as they spin a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera in to a beast with some-more than 600 horsepower force fed by a V10 engine as well as to all 4 wheels. For a consequence of comparison, a of course aspirated Aventador offers up 691 horsepower true from a factory.

There’s no interpretation upon which Heffner pack this Gallardo has been propitious with, so you can’t contend just how most horses it’s stealing underhood – it could be as most as 1200. At any rate, after examination a video, all you know is which it’s some-more than 691. See for yourself… as well as keep a racing cramped to a racetrack, please.

Supercar Concept America’s Falcon F7 Debuts In Detroit: Pictures

Supercar Concept America’s Falcon F7  Debuts In Detroit: Pictures

We first brought you details on the Falcon F7 supercar a year ago but now the company behind it, America’s own Falcon Motorsports, has unveiled a new concept version at a special presentation in Detroit.

Falcon claims that its latest concept shows the look of the production F7 supercar due out later this year.

Finding buyers shouldn’t be too difficult for Falcon considering its F7 supercar packs a 7.0-liter LS7 tuned to deliver more than 620 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. Remember, the entire thing weighs just 2785 pounds so performance should be scintillating.

Drive is sent to the rear wheels only via a six-speed Ricardo transaxle, just like in the Ford GT, and acceleration for the F7 takes just 3.3 seconds to go from 0-60 mph. Top speed is an estimated 200 mph.

The body is composed entirely of carbon fiber, while much of the internal structure is aluminum. Falcon uses its own hydroformed tube chassis for the F7, with suspension components lifted from the Chevrolet Corvette.

Falcon Motorsports, as some readers may recognize, is a company located in Michigan that specializes in building bodykits and other modifications for the Dodge Viper. Now the firm has used its talents to build its own supercar, which will be priced around $225,000 and sell in numbers as high as 20 units annually if enough buyers can be found.
