2012, BMW i100 Hybrid Super Car

A sports car production based on the concept last year’s BMW Vision EfficientDynamics will reportedly debut at Frankfurt 2011 and reach the market by 2013. According AutoBild Germany, the car they call the I100 (in the project of BMW I which is also spawning the megalopolis EV) will be powered by a hybrid powertrain like that concept.

A 1.5-liter engine with three cylinders (perhaps a diesel) coupled to an electric motor based on the architecture of the BMW 7 Series mild hybrid would cause the rear wheels, while a second engine would drive the wheels before. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery is designed to provide the electrical energy storage, although it is unclear whether the plug-in capability of the concept would be retained.
